Aklan West Road

Project Overview
The finished slope protection structures comprise several components: a 281.8-meter reinforced concrete retaining wall along Aklan West Road in Nabas town, an 85.4-meter reinforced concrete on steel sheet pile footing along Aklan West Road in Malay town, a 528.5-meter concrete slope protection along Tangalan-Ibajay Road, and a 540.5-meter slope protection from Poblacion to Jawili Falls and Ibajay Mangrove and Eco- Park. Additionally, the completed slope protection structures along Aklan West Road include reblocking and upgrading of the two-lane road and the construction of a concrete-lined ditch.
Project Impact
The projects on Aklan West Road aim to prevent future landslides and road slips, particularly in Barangay Kabulihan in Malay, which experienced significant impacts during Typhoon Falcon in July 2019. The completion of these slope protection structures now guarantees the safety of motorists and local residents in these vulnerable areas.
